The Bakun Hydroelectric Dam, when completed, will be the 2nd tallest dam in the world. WCT Engineering is part of the consortium that secured the main civil works contract worth RM 1.79 billion. Wholly-owned subsidiary, WCT Construction Sdn. Bhd., is undertaking the sub-contract civil works valued at RM380 million.

WCT Construction was awarded two packages in this project. The first under Package 1A involved the main civil works for the clearing and removal of overburden for the main dam and quarry area W9 and associated works. The second, under Package 1B involved excavation works and transportation for the dam, spillway, power intake and powerhouse including integrated cofferdam and associated works, embankment works for the dam, integrated cofferdam and associated works, quarry works including overburden, excavation and association works, rock support and slope stability works for the dam, spillway, power intake and powerhouse including integrated cofferdam and association works, permanent roads up to and including the sub-base level construction and maintenance of all construction of access roads.

Sub-Contract Value: RM380 million

Main-Contract Value: RM1.79 billion (WCT has an effective 7% stake in the project)
