Huawei Malaysia Collaborates with WCT Unit on Digital Transformation Effort

HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Huawei Malaysia) and WCT Land Sdn Bhd (WCTL), a subsidiary of WCT Holdings Berhad (WCT), have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore and develop digital transformation solutions and Al for implementation in WCT’s real estate development which include residential, lifestyle and retail as well as hospitality projects.

Under the MoU, Huawei will be WCT’s technology partner in its digital transformation initiatives and both parties will work together to explore opportunities in developing suitable digital solutions to maximise the latter’s potential in a portfolio of real estate development projects.

The collaboration will see the development of smart digital solutions to enhance public safety and security in WCTL’s retail malls and residential development.

“We are pleased to embark on this collaboration with Huawei, a leading global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices as we embed sustainable solutions across our business models through digital technology,” Peter Chow, WCT’s Deputy MD said after the signing ceremony last Friday.

“This strategic partnership will deliver value-added products and services that will elevate the lifestyle of our communities and provide high-quality customer experiences,” he added.

According to Huawei Malaysia’s Vice President of Cloud and AI Lim Chee Siong, by optimising Huawei’s expertise in technology, the company aims to build an intelligent world with “Everything As – A Service” through cloud computing and comprehensive intelligence.

“At Huawei, we always look forward to contributing towards or collaborating with Malaysia’s public and private sectors. This partnership with WCT Land is in line with Huawei’s efforts to bring digital to local companies. With the aim to shape the country’s digital future, Huawei is confident of completing the digital transformation of WCT Land to meet the company’s growing and diverse portfolio,” he said.

Huawei’s cloud service has attracted 2.3 million developers, 14,000 consulting partners, 6,000 technical partners, and released 4,500 Marketplace products. The company is committed to making a difference in bridging digital to the local industries for a better-connected Malaysia.

The partnership will also enhance WCTL’s aspirations in its digital transformation journey and position the company as a trend setter in the real estate industry in line with its vision to be the Lifestyle Community Developer offering affordable luxury homes with emphasis on safety, connectivity, community living and lifestyle convenience in Malaysia.

By forging this strategic partnership, the MoU will also work towards contributing in equipping Malaysians with in-demand digital knowledge which is critical in nation building and personal development.

This collaborative effort will help to upskill the local talent pool and ultimately create new job opportunities which are in line with Huawei’s vision to empower local companies to accelerate digital transformation for the nation.

The signing ceremony took place at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore and was signed by Director of WCTL, Lai Cheng Yee and Huawei Malaysia’s VP of Cloud and AI Business Group, Mr Lim Chee Siong. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Chief Executive Officer of WCT Malls Management, Selena Chua and Roy Hu, Huawei Malaysia Head of Business Development, Cloud Business Unit.
