Introduction

WCT Holdings Berhad (“WCT” or “the Group”) acknowledges that its business and the activities of its business divisions are in constant interaction with the environment, either through dependence on natural resources or through the generation of greenhouse gas emissions. With a diversified portfolio that includes engineering and construction, property development, and property investment and management, WCT strives to protect the environment and minimise environmental harm across its operations, including those that may arise from its supply chain.

This Policy outlines WCT’s commitments to addressing its significant environmental impacts and applies to all operations across its business divisions, subsidiaries, and business partners.

WCT’s Commitment

WCT is committed to the following:
i. Ensuring compliance with applicable legal requirements and other obligations related to environmental protection, including effluent and hazardous waste generation, and air emissions.

ii. Instilling the precautionary principle and pollution prevention approach into its decision-making frameworks to foster environmental stewardship, mitigate long-term risks, and promote sustainable business practices.

iii. Addressing actual and potential environmental impacts by adopting a lifecycle perspective throughout the design, planning, and delivery of WCT’s products and services, to the extent practicable. This includes:

  • Integrating environmental criteria into key processes, such as product planning and the procurement of goods and services from external providers.
  • Implementing measures to mitigate and adapt to climate change, such as using renewable energy sources in its buildings to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and designing developments to be climate-resilient.
  • Embracing circular economy principles to reduce waste and environmental pollution.
  • Prioritising the use of renewable resources, including sustainable building materials, to reduce the depletion of natural resources.

iv. Engaging stakeholders, including those in the supply chain, to ensure environmental compliance obligations are met and environmental performance is continually improved.

v. Fostering environmental consciousness among stakeholders, including employees, supply chain partners, and the communities in which WCT operates.

vi. Establishing two-way communication channels with stakeholders and maintaining effective grievance mechanisms to address environmental concerns.

vii. Promote implementation of environmental management systems based on established standards across the Group by providing adequate resources and support, and by continually seeking improvement.

The Board of Directors of WCT is responsible for establishing this Environmental Policy. Environmental performance will be monitored and reported as part of the Group’s sustainability governance framework.

This Policy shall be communicated across all business divisions, subsidiaries, business partners, employees, contractors, and other external providers of goods and services. It will also be made accessible to other stakeholders, including investors and parties potentially affected by WCT’s environmental impacts.

This Policy will be reviewed periodically to ensure its relevance and effectiveness.
